Meet the Samples:: Zuzu’s Petals

Looking for a one-skein pattern that has a true wow factor? Love knitting triangular shawls but have trouble wearing them? Want to try knitting lace in a thicker yarn?

We may have just the thing…

Zuzu’z Petals by Carina Spencer is a clever pattern that solves the problem some small shawls have when it comes time to wear them.  I have enjoyed knitting more than one shawlette, only to find that when I go to wear them that the shawl won’t stay put and I fuss with tucking in the ends all day.  This cowl pattern gives you the effect of a shawlette worn bandana-style, but since it goes on over the head it’s not falling off!

Written for both a worsted and sport weight yarn, this knits up quickly and would be a fun first lace project for an adventurous beginner.  Our shop sample is knit in Abstract Fiber‘s Miro worsted in the Passion color way.  I think the hot tones of red, fuchsia, and orange play very well together and make the pattern sing.

This was such a fun and speedy knit that I think I’ll be making a sport weight version for myself sometime very soon…

Thanks to Liz for modeling!
