Learn the basics of knitting in this class for absolute beginners. We will discuss different types of yarn, needles, and set you up with the knowledge you need to get started knitting! SWEATER KNITTING 101 with FRAN BIEL
September 22, October 6 & October 20 l 1-3pmFeel ready to tackle your first sweater, but feeling a bit intimidated? Let us help you make your first sweater a success! We will be knitting a baby sweater over the course of 3 sessions. Fran will take you through the ins and outs of knitting a top-down, seamless sweater and you’ll come away with a completed baby sweater! Limited to 6 students.Skill Level:
Adventurous Beginner – Students should know how to cast-on, knit, purl, bind off, and do basic decreases (K2tog & SSK). Skills Learned:
Basic sweater construction, raglan increases, knitting sleeves, picking up stitches for a button band, short rows, and buttonholes. Materials:
250 yards of a worsted weight wool (the Stash Enhancers recommend Dream in Color Classy), 24” size 8 circular needle, US size 8 double pointed needles, removable stitch markers (at least 4), darning needle. Students will eventually need 4 buttons, but these do not need to be purchased before attending the class. Homework:
Please knit a 4×4 gauge swatch in stockinette stitch and adjust your needle size if necessary.

Not sure what project to tackle next? Bring a knitting project and all your questions and we will be happy to help!2 sessions per month, 2-hours each! Pre-register for both sessions in a month and receive early bird pricing: $35/mo. Same day walk-ins welcome if space allows, $20. Maximum 6 knitters, no minimum.
START SPINNING WITH A DROP SPINDLE with LINDA HANSEN
September 15 l 12:30-3:30 Learn to spin your own yarn! This class teaches basic spinning with a drop spindle using a few different prepared fibers, as well as how to select appropriate fiber, a little history, a look at the properties of some different fibers and yarns, joining, winding, and plying basics. NEW for FALL! Mini Classes at New Morning Bakery
The Stash Enhancers are pairing up with local business New Morning Bakery for some evening knitting fun! Our mini classes are quick, introductory demonstrations designed to ignite your enthusiasm for new challenges in your knitting!
Each 1- hour mini class will include a demonstration of the technique by an experienced knitter. After the demo, there will be time for students to practice and have a question + answer period with the instructor. Mini Classes require basic knitting or crochet skills.
The Magic of Magic Loop Knitting
Have you mastered knitting in the round but think that dpns are too fiddly? Try your hand at knitting in the round using magic loop for small circumference projects (socks, baby hats, sweater sleeves). September 20, 5:30-6:30pm at New Morning Bakery (219 SW Second St).Materials: 100 Yards of your preferred weight of yarn and 40” circular needle to match the gauge of your yarn. $20, includes $5 gift card to New Morning Bakery
September 21 l 10:30-12:30pmDoes your knitting come to a screeching halt when you discover you’ve made a mistake? Learn how to fix (and notice!) common knitting mistakes!Skill Level:
Beginner- students must know how to cast-on, knit, purl and bind off. Skills Learned:
Picking up dropped stitches, unknitting stitch by stitch (tinking), tearing out several rows at a time (frogging) and other common mistakes. Materials:
One skein of bulky-weight yarn (plain, light color is best), a set of 10.5 needles and one crochet hook in size G, H, or I.Homework:
Knit one flat, stockinette stitch swatch. Cast-on 20 stitches and knit in stockinette stitch for 16 rows. Leave your swatch on your needles and bring it to class!
CAST ON, BIND OFF with Michele Bernstein
September 21 l 1:30-3:30pmHow many cast ons do you know? Why do you use the one that you use? Tired of running out of yarn with your long tail cast on? Come to class and learn some new tricks! We’ll cover long tail, knitting on, cable cast on, crochet provisional cast on, and maybe more depending on time. We’ll also talk about when/why you might choose one over another, and some bind offs that go well with your new cast ons.Skill Level: Beginner Materials: Smooth, light colored worsted weight yarn and straight or 24” circular needles in the appropriate size for your yarn.

- Start ‘em young! Students age 12 and over are welcome at all classes unless otherwise noted.
- Classes with too few students may be canceled, and a refund or store credit given for the class fee.
- Class size is set at a minimum of 3 and limited to 8 students unless otherwise noted.
- Because we want you to use the best materials possible, registered students receive 15% off the purchase of class materials. This cannot be combined with other discounts.
